Join the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center (NBSTCC) for their 6th
Annual Sea Turtle Extravaganza Saturday October 19th
from 10 am to 4 pm.
Sea Turtle Extravaganza is one of our longest standing community events and on this day, we shell-e-brate sea turtles and thank our community for their continued support with free admission to the conservation center!
This year we have two special activities to announce. First is a chance to meet the artist who painted the famous Sea Turtle Mural on the NBSTCC fence! Chuck Chunn, of Chuck Chunn Marine Art, will be on sight touching up the mural live and displaying some of his current art pieces. Second, lil’ hatchlings and enjoy story time with Sweet Pea and Lane McDanal, author of Shelley the Sea Turtle. Mr. McDanal will be onsite, signing books and holding story time at 10:30 am; 11:30 am; 12:30 pm; 1:30 om; 2:30 pm. This is a lovely book, written by a local artist from Miramar Beach who set out to help his 3 children engage in enjoyable reading while building an awareness on how pollution and human activity impact sea turtles and other marine life.
Other activities and vendors include:
- Kids crafts
- Meet a representative from the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary and learn about Navarre’s very own artificial reef system.
- T.E.D. (Turtle Excluder Obstacle Challenge)
- Navarre Fire Engine 49
- Margie’s Turtles
- Kite Flyer Display
- Story time with author of Shelly the Sea Turtle
