It’s been said that once you get the white Gulf sand between your toes, you’ll never want to leave. Whether it’s the sand, sun or surf that brings you here, it will be the overall experience of Navarre that makes you want to stay forever. Residential growth has more than doubled during the past 10 years. It’s no wonder we’re the fastest growing community in Santa Rosa County! Living in Navarre is like being on vacation year-round. When much of the country is experiencing cold and snowy weather, the water here is a beautiful emerald green, the beach is warm, and the sand is white. Seeing a glorious sunset over the Gulf, watching a heron wade through the marsh grass, feeling the water lap at your feet while you walk along the beach, enjoying the dolphins as they play in the water…not a week goes by that you can’t experience one or all of these treasures! Our residents enjoy the best that Northwest Florida has to offer. Navarre offers both new and existing homes in a variety of neighborhoods— gated communities, wooded areas, on the beach, Sound side, bayside, or within any number of new and established subdivisions.
History In 1925, a visionary by the name of Col. Guy H. Wyman, a retired U.S. Army engineer, founded the Navarre area. Originally from DeFuniak Springs, Col. Wyman and his wife had seen some of the world’s natural wonders, and decided to settle in this one. Navarre was named for Mrs. Wyman’s favorite picturesque province in northern Spain. The area was quite unpopulated at the time, which changed in the early 1960s with the building of the Navarre Beach Bridge. This afforded everyone the opportunity to experience and enjoy the pristine Gulf Coast beaches and warm emerald waters of Santa Rosa Island. Subsequently, tourism was born in the area, resulting in an abundance of comfortable, attractive and affordable accommodations and eateries on Navarre Beach. Conservation was not forgotten, and miles of National Seashore exist today just as pure and unspoiled as they have been for centuries.
