Shalimar, Florida (October 8, 2018) – The Air Force Association (AFA) recently recognized the Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) with its Lifetime Achievement Award at the Air, Space & Cyber Conference on September 19, 2018 during the Air Force Birthday Dinner in Arlington, Virginia. AFEV was one of five recipients of the award.

AFA recognized AFEV for a fifty-year mission of providing a home for and financial assistance to widows of retired enlisted Air Force members. AFA's Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals and organizations who have made contributions to the advancement of aerospace power throughout their lifetimes. AFA ensures that great accomplishments of the past continue to inspire our airmen now and in the future.

AFEV President and CEO Brooke McLean thanked the 100 AFEV employees, the AFA and U.S. Air Force for taking care of a special mission.

“Fifty years have passed but we haven’t waivered. We haven’t changed our dedication and devotion to taking care of airmen for life. We are on the right-hand side of the “airmen for life” curve,” McLean said.  “It’s incredibly honorable the work we get to do there at the Air Force Enlisted Village, and it’s certainly not slowing down.”

“We have an incredible amount of work to do in front of us,” McLean continued. “AFEV is going to be there as 65 plus population continues to grow. We are going to take care of those individuals, and we’re going to stand on the legacy and the support of strong organizations like the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Association for the incredible work that we all do together.”
