    Hello, Friends —

This week has been a whirlwind. At the “Won’t Back Down Townhall Tour” I was glad to hear your valuable insights on the issues most affecting you. Traveling from Navarre to Pensacola to DeFuniak Springs, I was reminded yet again of the tremendous honor it is to represent the Florida Panhandle. I undoubtedly represent the greatest district in America.
If you weren’t able to make it out to one of my townhalls, you can catch a quick recap below:

    Preventing Animal Cruelty

It was my pleasure to hold an animal welfare roundtable at the Alaqua Animal Refuge, where we discussed how to make Northwest Florida a more animal-friendly place to live and work.

    Coming Home

It’s always important to remember where you come from, which is why it was wonderful to visit Boy Scout Troop 553, my very own Boy Scout Troop. I had many adventures with the Scouts growing up, and it’s great to see the next generation of Scouts!

    Hurricane Aid (At Long Last)

This week, Congress approved money dedicated to helping Florida rebuild from Hurricane Michael. I’m glad to see Florida finally receive the money it desperately needed.
We also passed legislation to curb ocean acidification, helping protect our coastal communities. Northwest Floridians know all too well the effects weather and natural disasters have on our communities and our economy — that’s why we’re doing everything we can to ensure that, when disaster hits, we are prepared.

    AROUND THE DISTRICT

    75th Anniversary of D-Day

June 6 marked the 75th anniversary of the Allied invasion of the beaches of Normandy. We pause to honor those who so bravely fought for the cause of freedom across the globe on that fateful day. We owe the Greatest Generation our utmost gratitude.

    Governor DeSantis Stands for Israel

This week, Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill condemning anti-semitism in the State of Florida. The new law treats anti-semitism the same as other forms of discrimination. I am proud that our state stands in solidarity with our friend and ally Israel, and I am glad that Governor DeSantis is continuing to strengthen Florida’s close relationship with Israel.

    Blue Water Decision

The Department of Justice recently announced it will not challenge a recent court decision, which determined that tens of thousands of veterans exposed to Agent Orange are indeed eligible to receive benefits from the VA.
I cosponsored legislation on this very same topic, the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019, which passed the House unanimously on May 14. This recent announcement from DOJ is great news. Our veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange deserve the care and benefits due to them!

    GAETZ IN THE NEWS

Congressman Matt Gaetz Understands Trump’s ‘America First’ Foreign Policy Perfectly
“Congressman Matt Gaetz just laid out a bold and comprehensive vision of the America First foreign policy that President Trump has used to dramatically enhance America’s standing on the world stage. It’s a departure from the failed neocon thirst for constant conflict and a balance point to the libertarian isolationism that can be equally counterproductive.”
