    BBB® Tuesday Tips
Your BBB® spends a lot of time investigating scams, exposing unethical behavior and helping businesses and consumers come to a resolution in their disputes. The annual recognition program — Torch Award for Ethics and Student Ethics Scholarship — is our chance to celebrate those who incorporate excellence and ethics into every aspect of their roles in the marketplace.
As a business leader, you benefit from an ethical marketplace. Consumers who don’t lose money to scams and unethical businesses have more to spend with businesses they can trust — businesses like yours!
Due to COVID in 2020, the board of directors decided to postpone the businesses/charities recognition. However, 9 students from across our geographical area were chosen to receive $1,000 scholarships to help in their educational pursuits after high school.
Nominations for this years' program are now being accepted. (if you applied or were nominated last year, you are automatically in the 2021 program.) Brochures with applications have been mailed. Applications can also be downloaded and completed online at bbb.org/nwfl/torchaward.
Entries for all award categories must be postmarked or delivered to the BBB office by 4 p.m, on March 15, 2021.
    • Torch Award for Ethics: This award was created to publicly recognize businesses and charities that maintain a solid commitment to conducting their business practices in an ethical manner.
    • Student Ethics Scholarship: This scholarship recognizes high school juniors and seniors for their commitment to ethical behavior and personal integrity. Each student selected receives a $1,000 scholarship to the college, trade, university or vocational school of their choice.
