To an audience of 200 Florida infrastructure leaders, the Florida Chamber Foundation unveiled the long-anticipated Florida Trade & Logistics 2030 Study (TL2030), this morning, at the Florida Transportation, Growth & Infrastructure Solution Summit in Jacksonville. Informed by two prior studies in its series – the Florida Trade and Logistics Study 1.0 and Made for Trade: Florida Trade and Logistics Study 2.0 – this follow-up research analyzes emerging trends from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the opportunities and challenges facing Florida's trade, logistics, and manufacturing industries as they work to stay on pace with changes in the global economy and global supply chain.
The framework of this study is built around the Florida Chamber Foundation's Florida 2030 Blueprint's Six Pillars. Some key strategies and recommendations include:
- Reaffirm the statewide priority for trade, logistics and manufacturing
- Establish a statewide, focused manufacturing initiative
- Close essential workforce gaps and strengthen the talent pipeline
- Continue to strengthen trade gateways and corridors
- Establish a comprehensive site development program with emphasis on rural areas
- Continue redesigning Florida’s economic development toolkit
- Strategically leverage rural economic development to double the percentage of GDP from rural Florida
