    These are undoubtably precedented times for all, but the Florida Chamber is uniting Florida’s business community for good. Your safety, and the health of your employees is essential.

    State Loan Program
    Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Monday that Florida will begin a $50 million bridge-loan program for businesses hurt by the novel coronavirus and that he has directed the state’s revenue department to extend deadlines for businesses to pay corporate income taxes.     Election Day
    Today is Florida’s Presidential Preference Primary and precincts will be open for Floridians to vote in person. Voters are encouraged to contact their local supervisor of elections before heading out to vote, as some precincts that were previously located in nursing homes and assisted living facilities have been removed or relocated.
    Trump to Seek $850 Billion Stimulus Package
    The Trump administration will seek approval of a roughly $850 billion emergency stimulus package from Congress in order to ease the economic impact of the coronavirus, a senior administration official confirmed on Tuesday. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is expected to outline the package to Senate Republicans on Tuesday. More here.
     
     
    House Passes Corrected Coronavirus Bill
    The House on Monday evening passed for the second time legislation to mitigate the economic impact of the coronavirus after technical corrections were made to the measure. The bill initially passed in a 363-40 vote in the early hours of Saturday morning, but due to a technicality that could not be fixed administratively, it had to be brought back to the floor.     Border Closures
    Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday the country is closing its borders to anyone other than Canadian citizens, permanent residents and -- at least for now -- US citizens. Read more here.
