Volunteer Florida Announces Half a Million Dollars in Available Funding for Florida Nonprofits
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Monday, June 28th, Volunteer Florida announced the availability of up to $568,000 in grant funding to assist Florida’s nonprofit organizations in the recruitment and retention of skills-based volunteers through the national Volunteer Generation Fund. Organizations interested in applying for one of the 27 possible grants should respond to the request for proposals by 5pm (EST) Friday, August 13th.

“Thanks to Governor DeSantis, Florida is leading the post-pandemic charge in both workforce opportunity and community engagement,” said Volunteer Florida CEO Corey Simon. “With this year’s available Volunteer Generation Fund grants for Florida’s nonprofits, we are stepping up our game to recruit and retain thousands of skilled volunteers to serve in our local areas of need.”

It is expected that this year’s Volunteer Generation Fund programs will help local nonprofits manage and support approximately 10,800 skills-based volunteers who will collectively contribute 81,000 hours of service throughout the state of Florida – a value of $2,131,920. Funding for the Volunteer Generation Fund is made available by AmeriCorps, the federal agency responsible for volunteering and national service, and administered for Florida by Volunteer Florida.

Special consideration for funding will be given to organizations supporting rural communities and/or increasing economic opportunities through workforce development. New and second-year subgrantee organizations will be eligible to receive $20,000 in grant funding, and third-year subgrantees will be eligible to receive $24,000 in grant funding.
