Mardi Gras will look different this year without parades but the Navarre Chamber is making sure it'll still be a fun carnival season by introducing our first Mardi Gras scavenger hunt with a chance for shoppers and participating businesses to win prizes.
Even though it may not feel the same, we can still let the good times roll! Navarre area merchants are invited to decorate for Mardi Gras and plan some fun activities for our residents during our first #ShopNavarreFirst Mardi Gras event.
2021 Chamber Chair, Sarah Skelly, hopes this event will keep the carnival season alive while also helping to jump-start the new year for area businesses. “We are so, so excited for the Mardi Gras Season!”
“We’re trying to think of creative, outside the box ways people can safely get out and celebrate the season,” Skelly said. “Everyone can get out, discover some of the unique shops and eateries in our area, and enjoy quality time with their families. As we’re saying this year... king cake isn’t cancelled!”
Local residents are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Mardi Gras attire, visit the participating Navarre area business, and to take and “SHARE” photos in front of displays or with their purchases on Facebook and Instagram. Every photo posted and tagged with the #ShopNavarreFirst hashtag will be entered into a raffle drawing, the businesses who choose to decorate will be entered to win a best of season award, and the business with the most posts will also win a prize.
“Anything we can do to encourage people to get out, shop small, and support our local businesses is a good thing. We know Navarre Beach is a popular place for families to visit to celebrate holidays and traditions. Mardi Gras in particular is a favorite tradition for many here in the Navarre area and especially on Navarre Beach where, in normal years, large crowds will gather to watch the parade.”
The Mardi Gras Scavenger Hunt will begin on Monday, February 1 and will run through Friday, February 26. Prize winners will be randomly selected and announced at the Chamber’s Annual Awards & Installation Breakfast on Friday, February 26.
“We hope that Navarre area businesses will get into the season and plan shopping and dining activities to help celebrate the Mardi Gras season. And, we hope, everyone will want to take every opportunity to support it, promote it, and enjoy it.” said Chanda Ryan, President/CEO of the Navarre Chamber. “Building an online presence for Navarre area businesses is pertinent in our efforts to market and advertise Navarre area businesses.”
Participants can enter for a chance to win a prize by posting and tagging a photo of themselves with a business' Mardi Gras display or of item(s) purchased anytime from February 1st through the 26th on social media using the #ShopNavarreFirst hashtag, and tag The Navarre Chamber.
