Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy Now Accepting Applications
The Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy (CLEA) is BACK!
CLEA is a 10-week program for Santa Rosa County residents that offers an exclusive, inside look at your local sheriff's office. Classes are held on Thursday nights from 6:00PM until approximately 9:00PM, depending on the subject matter. The program is completely free for residents ages 18 and up. Participants will also receive a meal each class night.
-Participants will have the opportunity to-
- See our agency’s internal structure and the integral part that the agency plays in the local community.
- Learn how to better protect yourself from being a crime victim, how to report crime, and the ramifications of committing a crime.
- You will receive knowledge on officer training & equipment, what constitutes a crime, and how to differentiate between “reasonable suspicion” and “probable cause.”
- You will watch police K-9s in action.
- Learn about the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.ASee how a crime scene is handled and incriminating evidence is collected.
- You will learn the “Shoot/Don’t Shoot” methodology.
- Learn about the use of firearms & tasers.
- Gain an understanding of our detention processes. Learn about our tracking K9s.
