Santa Rosa Teachers Receive Highest Salary Increase in a Decade

MILTON, FL - As a result of the negotiations held between Santa Rosa County School District and the bargaining agent for instructional employees, a tentative agreement has been reached regarding salary increases for instructional employees which will apply to the 2022-2023 school year. This tentative agreement represents an overall average increase of 5.1% to instructional salaries to be paid by funds from Santa Rosa County District Schools.

The increase will be applied to raising the minimum teacher salary in Santa Rosa County to $47,500 and will provide for a 4.33% increase for veteran teachers making above the new minimum salary.

This tentative agreement is the highest salary improvement the district has received in over a decade and was Board approved during the December 8, 2022 School Board meeting. The final implementation of this tentative settlement is pending ratification from the bargaining unit.

Through the negotiations process, the contractually defined insurance committee recommended no increase in healthcare premiums for employees, with the Santa Rosa School Board agreeing to pay the 12% increase in healthcare premiums. This recommendation was subsequently approved by the Board.

Administrators also received Board approval for a 4.33% salary improvement.

Superintendent Dr. Karen Barber says, “The School Board and I are thrilled to be able to provide the highest raise in over a decade to our instructional employees. Our teachers are outstanding and dedicated to the success of our students, and they deserve our support and gratitude." "We are also very grateful to our administrators who are committed to loving, educating, and preparing all our students for graduation and a successful future,” says Barber.
