    The Arc Gateway Installs Boards and
    Presents Annual Awards
     
    PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – The Arc Gateway held its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. The meeting was completely virtual this year with more than a hundred people attending via Zoom and Facebook LIVE.
     
    The Arc Gateway Board President, Thomas Greek, acknowledged that "this setting [a virtual meeting] is a reminder that we are still dealing with an unprecedented set of circumstances." He recognized the board, staff, volunteers, and donors for their resolve in meeting the challenges of COVID-19 head on. "We had to be resilient, and inventive, and compassionate," Greek stated. "We had to be these things because our clients needed us to be."
     
    "We did not let a virus, a hurricane or any other barrier get in the way of letting us continue to provide the best possible life experiences for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities," said Missy Rogers, CEO.
     
    Although it was an extremely challenging year, Rogers commended everyone for pulling together to get through it, stating she is "proud of where we are today."
     
    The agency recognized the following people with Annual Awards for their service to The Arc Gateway, its mission and the disability community:
     
    • Angela Carter received the Board President's Award.
     
    • Mary Henriques received Foundation President's Award.
     
    • Jolene Siler-Lindberg was honored as Educator of the Year.
     
    • Ascension Sacred Heart was recognized as Employer of the Year.
     
    • The Lucy Petree Outstanding Service Award was presented to Stephen Rampersad.
     
    • Michael Stone with Special Olympics was recognized as the Pearl Nelson Advocate.
     
    • The W.D. Pollak Friendship Award recognized the contributions of Martha and Dave Goshaw.
     
    • Two incredible individuals were honored with the “I Believe” Self-Advocate Award this year: Derek Connell and Bridgette Smith.
     
    • Cathy Lauterbach, COO, was recognized as the Belle Bear Visionary Activist.
     
    Each award recipient received a beautiful framed piece of artwork created by The Arc Gateway's talented artists.
     
    The meeting also including the installation of the 2021 Board of Directors and Foundation Trustees. Trish Allison, WUWF Public Radio Member Services and Engagement Director and former Arc Gateway employee and board member, installed the following:
