Nonprofit organizations in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties that wish to apply to become a Certified Partner Agency of United Way of West Florida may do so from October 4 to October 22. Agency Certification is the first step for organizations that wish to apply for Community Investment grant funding from United Way of West Florida.
Agency Certification is an annual process through which organizations are vetted on several factors, including but not limited to governance, financial health, and transparency. Applications are then reviewed, with United Way of West Florida's Finance Committee and staff evaluating financial documents and making recommendations to the Board of Directors for certification based upon those factors. Applicants can expect to receive notice of their status by early December.
Two Agency Certification Training workshops will take place on October 6 (1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.) and October 8 (8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.). These workshops will provide additional information about the Agency Certification process. United Way of West Florida staff will give a detailed overview of the application process and required documentation.
Each workshop will have in-person and virtual attendance options. Registration is required as in-person attendance is limited. Those in attendance are required to wear masks following CDC health recommendations. Participation in a workshop is strongly encouraged but not required to apply for Agency Certification.
United Way of West Florida will host the in-person portion of the workshops in their Community Room (1301 W. Government Street, Pensacola, FL 32502). To register for an Agency Certification Training, visit www.uwwf.org/agency-certification.
Becoming a Certified Partner of United Way of West Florida entitles organizations to several benefits beyond the opportunity to apply for United Way funding. Partner Agencies are part of a resourceful network and may promote job listings and events through United Way channels. Recognition as a Certified Partner also signals to potential funders that an agency has been vetted and meets United Way of West Florida's standards for organizational health.
Partner Agencies are also eligible to join UWADA -- United Way's Agency Director's Association. UWADA is a coalition of agency representatives working collaboratively to address community needs. UWADA membership has additional benefits and resources.
This year, United Way of West Florida awarded $700,000 in Community Investment grant awards to 26 Certified Partner Agencies in support of 31 community programs.
