From the Director's Desk: Back to School with the YMCA |
As summer winds down and our children have returned to school, this year will look different on so many levels, including reduced class sizes in school and remote and virtual class options. Our families will need to adapt to this new reality. Parents face the familiar yet stressful challenge of getting their children back into a routine and prepared for a successful start to the school year, even though this year will look dramatically different. |

Spotlight On: Gregory Townsend |
If you watch Gregory Townsend work out at the Bear Levin Studer Y, you might guess that he’s a fiercely competitive athlete. You might not guess that he’s dad to a 4-year-old, speaks Mandarin fluently and has a passion for visual and creative arts. Add his childhood moving around as a military brat, and you begin to understand who Gregory is. |

Exercising Together: Senior Fitness at Pullum |
The YMCA serves all demographics of our communities. Our senior population is the cornerstone of our organization. While social distancing has put a damper on a lot of senior and group programs, we are working hard to pivot and move into different spaces to reach out to members. Some online options have had success with keeping members connected. We are excited to get back to some in person classes starting in September. |

Program Corner:
Karate - Get Kickin! |
Starting September 8, we will be adding Karate back to the Thursday night schedule. This is a great opportunity for members and non-members of all ages to engage in a fun practice that teaches respect and self-discipline. |

Health Focus:
National Yoga Month |
In 2008, September was officially designated as National Yoga Month. Now is a great time to learn about the mental and physical health benefits of yoga; and to also try a class if you haven’t already.
With all the current emphasis of staying healthy and maintaining a healthy immune system, what better time than now to try out a yoga class? |

Family Dinners Church
Family Dinners Church exists to create a healthy family by connecting people to Christ and one another at the dinner table. People are welcomed and encouraged into a relationship because the initial connection is in a construct of familiarity: the dinner table. At the dinner table, life happens: people discuss their day, concerns, victories, and challenges. In this context, we introduce people to Christ through Biblical stories, which leads to discussions over dessert and coffee. |

YOUR ROUTE. YOUR RACE. YOU CHOOSE!
The Last Mile 5k is going virtual! All proceeds from this year’s race benefit the YMCA of Northwest Florida and Bike Pensacola.
So grab your friends near and far, and let’s do this together! Get the word out. Tag a friend below whom you want to join you for this year’s race. If you’re new to the area or would like more details about this year’s race, visit us online. |

Aquatics Corner
Since 2007, we have partnered with Navarre High School and have served as their “home” aquatics facility. This partnership is a great collaboration within the Navarre community. We have recently updated information about the swim team to share. |
